The NISC has been a partner to DHS S&T and DRDC during the Canada-US Enhanced (CAUSE) Resiliency Experiment series by providing participants with access to ArcGIS Online through the NISC Member Portal and providing a central location for hosting online tools to test during the experiment (for example, the Mutual Aid Resource Planner (MARP) and the CAUSE V Common Operating Picture).
In addition to providing support during the experiments, the NISC is also a transition partner for resources developed for and tested during the CAUSE experiments, including data models, tools and information products.
The Data Lifecycle
The Data Lifecycle Guide, available for NISC members here (also in the Resource Library), offers guidance for setting up the end-to-end process for situational awareness like those tested in CAUSE, from field reporting tools to dashboards and common operating pictures.

The Data Lifecycle process
The basis for the Data Lifecycle Guide is the data model, which describes the elements of the process (for example, the fields in an incident tracking template). The NISC provides many data models for different essential elements of information (EEIs) through the Test Drives section of the Member Portal, including EEIs that were developed and/or tested during CAUSE. The Test Drive page lets you browse or search for EEIs, and either view a sample app based on that model or ‘inject’ the model into your ArcGIS Online Organization.
Just search for the tag “CAUSE” on the Test Drive page to get started!
Information Products from Previous CAUSE Experiments
In addition to the data models available through the NISC Member Portal, the NISC/vUSA ArcGIS Online Organization contains a repository of map services, web maps, and applications used during the past three CAUSE experiments (CAUSE III, IV and V).
